Keeping it Rural.
Harvesting the corn behind our house.
Initially, Kenny and I wanted to enjoy our first true fall weekend (off) work doing fall-ish things in Northern Iowa, however at the last minute we stayed in the Des Moines area.
Saturday morning KP let me stay in the warmth of our bed while he made breakfast and delivered it to me! We eventually made our way up and headed to the spacious, yet almost overwhemlingly large Des Moines farmers market. Sprinkled throughout a sea of coats and hats, were people dressed in their cutest fall gear. Around every corner there was a new musician and a new scent of cider, foods or flowers. And of course, my favorite part- all the different dogs! It was perfect.
We ended the night with a cookout at our friends house to watch the Iowa game and play foosball! It was a blasty!
We went to bed last night with every intention of going to the pumpkin patch today. But once we climbed our overly tired selves out of bed it was brunch time. We headed to Grounds for Celebration, a lovely little coffee joint that serves the most amazing and fresh foods. The quiche, greens, fresh fruit and decaf orange and apricot iced tea hit the spot!
We set forth on a mission today; Spice jars, pumpkins and frozen yogurt. Mission successful!
Dinner was squash, zucchini and poblano peppers over a bed of lime and cilantro whole grain rice one a whole grain tortilla - topped with a sprinkle of cheese and tomatillo salsa! The farmers market paid off! Sooo delicious!
