Feel the Heal

Within one week we lost both my Grandfather that was, so we thought, on the mend and we also Kenny's uncle Jeff unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident.

It was heart wrenching. Consoling my husband during the first part of the week, then he returning the love the second half for me. Our house had not seen tears like that in a very long time - it was pure sadness. 

We did find the silver lining for both losses. 

Jeff was taken out of the blue. It was pure shock and disbelief for his family. However, he was an organ donor which means, he saved 5 lives with his selfless commitment. I cried imagining his family getting the call after the accident, but I cried harder thinking of those people that got the call for a second chance at life. The ultimate gift.

When it came to my grandpa, it was hard. I have many regrets. I didn't get Ethan down to meet him. I didn't get to see him the week before he passed. But the wonderful thought that kept me going was knowing that he and my grandmother would be united after being apart for 20 years. Now they can watch over us together from above. It also heals my heart knowing my grandfather is no longer in pain. He just had so many strikes against him - cancer, fluid in his lungs, an aneurysm in his stomach, all on top of chronic back pain. 

Our family met in honor of my grandfather in Hays, Kansas, my birthplace. We relived the memories. and visited some of the places we grew to love when we spent the summers with our grandparents. The  time we spent together, making new memories was irreplaceable.
