Diary of a Pregnant Girl: When You Smile
Entry Seven
As I near the 6th month of my pregnancy, it is easy for me to see the things that have changed. Not only physical and emotional changes, but social changes as well.
I have always thought one of the reasons I was put on to this Earth was to make people smile. Being a naturally optimistic person, I will be the first person to smile at a store clerk, mail man, neighbor or coworker. The reason: there is no other feeling like seeing someone smile, just because you are. Smiling is contagious and I like to spread it like the plague. Plus, when I can make a grumpy-pants stranger or a regular debbie downer smile, I feel accomplished.
Lately, however, I have noticed more and more people smiling at me. It is almost as if they are beating me at my own game. But I can’t decide if it is just a natural thing people do at pregnant women who are obviously pregnant or if I am doting a perma-grin and people are being sucked into my smile tractor beam.
At any rate, I like it.
