JDRF - Walking to Cure Diabetes

For the last couple of months, Kenny and I have been posting about JDRF on our Facebook status and though emails to our friends and family. JDRF is a wonderful organization whose mission is to find the cure for Type 1 diabetes. Researchers finally feel they will find this cure well within our lifetime.

I was asked by the Chairman and CEO of my company, Holmes Murphy, to be a team captain in this adventure. It
sounded like fun and a lot of work. I decided to take it on full steam ahead. I gathered 10 friends (including KP) to be on my walk team and set individual goals at $100 each.

Yesterday was the walk in downtown Des Moines and today I finally feel I have accomplished what I set out to do. Individually, I raised $550, my team raised around $5,000 and Holmes Murphy as a whole raised $100,000 and showed up with over 150 walkers!!

I couldn't be more proud of my husband, my team, and my co-workers! It is truly a indescribable feeling.
Thank you again to those who donated and cheered us on. You helped make this effort a success!

P.S. I also had the privilege to design the HMA/JDRF walk shirt. It was a circus theme and I used elephants with the tagline, "It's time to talk about the elephant in the room." We were the only people wearing navy so you can see us in most of the photos!
