Diary of a Pregnant Girl: Crafting for e

With this pregnancy, there is one question I am usually asked first, which is the same question I also ask my pregnant friends and expect they will tell me if they have woes, "So, how are you feeling?" My usual reply, "Pretty good - just getting big." True, however, my real reply should be, "Pretty Abnormal. How about yourself?"

With the exception of the average cold, I have felt miraculously well. And because I really have nothing to complain about (even if I did, I wouldn't tell every sweet and sincere soul that kindly asked me) I have decided to keep my response at 'pretty good' which is the God's honest truth just a wee bit, off.

So what does it mean?
Well, when I say I am out of my norm it simply means my brain seems to be failing in areas I was once good at and I am now trying to maneuver around this growing belly (shoes used to be easy). Nothing horrible, just not Tabatha.

As I try to do in these very situations, I decided to figure out what would be the best way to make lemonade out of lemons? Answer - Doing the one thing I am still quasi good at: being artsy. With that in mind, last week I headed to Archiver's, JoAnn Fabric and Michael's to see just what kind of crafty-trouble I could get myself into.

I have my mothers sewing machine and I am eager to relearn to use it, so my first hopeful project: pillow covers Ethan's chair in his nursery. Mission: Fail. I obviously need help threading the needle.

Project two: handmade cards. It has been a while since I have made any new Kathol Company cards, however, when the chill of the basement drove me out, that too was a fail. Next investment, a space heater.

Third project: making something special for e. This one was a no-brainer. For those of you who knew me in HS, you might remember I had a thing for embroidery. I was never really good, never used a pattern but stitched my jeans and my backpack with mushrooms, flowers and peace signs. I decided to do this for my son - but make it personalized toward him.

I started this about a week ago (I have a new found respect for cross-stitchers) and so far, this is all I have. Because I am not using a pattern, I am just making up as I go. Hope he likes it.

Along with this finished project, there will be more crafty photos to come.
