Summer Lovin'
What a doozie.
It started with our first family dinner out. To be positive, it wasn't a complete disaster. We ordered our food which took an extra long time for it to come out. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen but once my dish arrived, I had roughly two bites before my lovely and patient child decided to blow out his diaper. He was calm and had we not seen it, I am not sure we would have known it happened. After the clean up, my food was cold, I didn't quite have an appetite and it was around 6pm so hello bed time for the Pod family. We are THOSE people.

He looks so innocent, right?
We had a lot more visitors this week. *If you wonder why I don't place those pictures, it's because I am not sure who is comfortable with their photos being plastered all over my blog, so I just give'em the good ole honorable mention.* Everyone that came brought a smile to our face and livened up our house while they were here. We also received several more cards and couple more packages in the mail. For those sending; we are receiving... and I promise, slowly but surely, the thank you's will be written. We are so grateful! Almost 6 weeks down and people still want to celebrate Hutch with us. Very cool.
Did I mention Charlie LOVES Hutch?
On Sunday we had our neighborhood block party. It was something I thought our neighborhood needed as we are a group of 20-30-40somethings that should get to know each other. I pulled together 3 other gals on the block to help plan, all the way back in March and out of no where, the date was here. It was not much but it was fun. I don't recommend planning a party while pregnant that takes place when you have a newborn to care for but it worked out and our neighborhood seems to be growing more into a community by the day.
Which brings us to today... Monday. While E was sleeping and KP was cutting the grass - I too decided I would be productive and do something I have been wanting to do for a very long time; I cleaned my Kathol Company work space and I sewed.

I know what you are thinking - whoopity doo, Tabbie.
But it is more than that.
*insert sappy intro music here*
The sewing machine I have belonged to my mom.

She was a seamstress for most of her life. From minor mending to wedding attire, it was her career. She told us stories of making/altering her own clothes growing up.
One of the stories goes like this:
One day when mom was in high school, she helped herself to my Aunt Debbie's closet, took a dress and hemmed it up several inches to make it a minidress and wore it to school. I do believe that was the day mom said she had the dress physically ripped off her body and had to call grandma for clothes because she was left with only her skivvies. (That was my mom!!) Doesn't that make sewing more exciting?
This machine isn't fancy but somehow it always got the job done. Kenny's mom showed me how to thread the bobbin and the machine when she was here last and I hit the ground running today. I was determined to make some stuff I had on my mind, which is inspired by ESAP. Go here to see other examples of how 'craftastic' I can be.
{Project 1: The Weather Mobile}
This work in progress is a bit more difficult than originally thought. Does anyone know where to buy quality felt? Anyway, here is where we are....
{Project 2: Fancy Burp Cloths}
Some of the best burp cloths we have are just plain cloth diapers. I don't really do plain, so I decided to dress them up a bit. Kathol Company will permanently start carrying these in packs of two. I use the Gerber diapers for now and the best boutique quilt material I can find.
Here is the final product.
Here are a couple of fabric choices in case you are interested.
... and then my little man woke up from his nap! More to come!

I love this story, especially hearing about your mom. I love all the pictures of your new family of three and of course, LOVE Ethan! I wish I could squeeze those cheeks. Glad you have been blessed by all your family and friends and love being a mommy. Oh, I also enjoyed watching the lovely video that captured your beautiful experience into parenthood. ~ Chantel
