Life in the Fast Lane

We have done it. With the parenting and prenatal classes under our belts, April is on its last leg. If this month was any premonition as to what next month holds, our baby will be here before we know it.

The question is not what have we been doing, but what haven’t we been doing.

On Saturday, Kenny’s brother Bill came in from the Carolinas. It has been great to have him around again. I am sure KP was missing his big bro and they have spent many nights listening to the Cards, drinking barley pops and just hanging out. It was just what the doctor ordered for KP.

Tossin' bags drinking beers.

Sunday was Easter. As most of you know, I gave up Chocolate, Mexican Food, and Italian Food for Lent. I did really well too – so as a 'reward’, I spent 2 hours cooking a homemade Mexican Fiesta for the 3.5 of us and Bill treated us to Heavenly Delights ice cream. It was well worth it EXCEPT when I had to jump on the scale the next day at the doc’s office.

My Aunt Dianna's Enchiladas

Momma's Sopa and my special Guacamole (and homemade salsa)

Needless to say, I won’t be sharing this week’s fluke weight. I am hoping the scale was broken and by my next visit I will be normal again. We shall see. On the bright side, the doc said he plans to see me next week – no baby on the horizon – and we are doing very well.

Not only was Monday a big day because we got to see the doctor, but it was Kenny and my second wedding anniversary. Thank you for all the anniversary wishes! It does feel as if it were only days ago we said forever, as a blue hue shined into the lodge in which we married. To celebrate our special day this year, we toned it down quite a bit. No wine, no presents, no fancy attire - just a nice meal and quiet time at one of our favorite restaurants, J. Benjamin's. It was perfect. We should deem this anniversary the calm before the storm.

Me and My Love. I look uber exhausted!

As of today, I am a full 36 weeks. 28 full days to go. Can you believe how fast this has gone?

Hutch weighs anywhere from 5 and 6 lbs for sure.
Momma's actual size: XXXXL

Although, now that I want the days to fly, they are dragging slowly by. I guess it gives me time to actually enjoy my sweet (quiet) child on the inside. My body is feeling this pregnancy more than ever but I am trying not to complain. It truly is a miracle in the making. Hutch and I have fun. He and I play tag, he loves music and of course when I sing to him. Kenny reads to him and gently pokes him as he bulges out of my belly. Hutch is responding well to Kenny’s voice – which just seems to solidify that Kenny is, in fact, the dog and child whisperer. Have you ever seen dogs and kids around this guy? They latch on an fast! Ethan is no different and seeing the connection is quite amazing.

Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.
