4. The Tabbie and the Hair: Part Tres

Friday at last! Good news, blog views are up. Guess folks are liking the new spin. Only a few more days to go if not! :)

Today is casual day at work. Jeans worn by all.
Hairspiration today came from Jennifer Lopez and Lauren Conrad. They both never appear to have a bad hair day. I, on the other hand, have on every other day.

June 22

{the look}
the sun-kissed skinny
sleek straight tresses, faux sun-kissed skin, subdued eyes.

{hair}
Wash, condition, towel dry while you start your makeup. Add a pea-sized drop of Aquage Ultimate Colorcare Silkening Oil to wet lock before using your blow dryer. Let hair rest while you finish your make up.  I divide my hair into 4 parts to blowout. Spray each dry area with Aquage Beyond Shine flat iron protector. It not only protects your hair from heat, it smooths flyways and gives an amazing amount of shine. Flatiron small pieces at at time so you don't have to repeatedly go over your hair - the less damage the better. I don't use hairspray often, but I definitely don't use it on this look. The protection spray always seems to be enough. Doneskies.

{makeup}
BASE: Bare Minerals Medium foundation, Warmth for bronzer - with this look, I dust a little extra over the finished face to get that sun-kissed glow. Finish with Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. Not too much blush, sometimes, I just run the used brush over my cheeks from the prior use, if I haven't clean them yet, adding a subtle hint of color. EYES: I thought I would go color but I will do that for the Art Festival tomorrow. Today, I am going for a no-makeup effect. Subdued shadows, light mascara. All over lids with Orb, then swipe Queen Linda shadow from Bare Minerals over the lids. Wedge by MAC in crease.   LIPS: Brush lips with toothbrush to ensure soft, kissable smoochers. Burt's Bee's with SPF with a little clear gloss over the top for a shine and moisture combo. This also makes for a easy, mirrorless reapply.

{clothing}
Forever 21 denim skinny ankle pants paired with a sheer sleeveless yellow and white nautical striped shirt from Banana Republic that has a cute "Colonel Sanders" tie. White under tank from F21 - I suggest purchasing all colors at only $2.50 each, it is a deal! Sticking with the nautical theme, I opted for the covered toe look in my navy blue Sperry Top-Siders from Von Maur.  I feel very much like I belong on the beach today or possibly a yacht, not so much in a cubicle
Me and my shades.

Straight up.

Close up make up.

Anywho.
Thanks JLo and LC for the inspiration.

{more happenings}
CARDIO UPDATE: I had to get into see the cardiologist today because of pain surrounding my incision site from last week. I have also been having more boughs of shortness of breath. I thought it was no big deal but the nurse thought for sure I needed to come in to be seen. The doc didn't seem to be too concerned. Follow up in 2 months. More exercise recommended. Anyone want to walk at 6am?

FRIENDS: Please think about my friend Lisa who has been in the hospital for a week. She is a young mom, and her doctors cannot seem to find what is making her so ill. I ask you also to think about my cousin Jess, who is also a young mom. My cousin, her hubbs, is deployed over seas and she is seriously sick. Seizures, headaches, and pain in her entire body. I pray the doctors find both an answer soon. Next, please think of my friend Lori who's father is battling cancer. Hospice has been called. I pray for strength for her and her momma.

Lastly, I ask you pray a strong prayer for my friend, Monica, who lost her brother on Wednesday. She was my bestie when we were younger and her family was always like my own. Asking that they are given peace in this time of tremendous shock and sorrow. Mon, today at work I heard our song "Runaway Train." I think someone was hinting for me to stop and pray.

Love you all.

On a good note, Ethan is doing great. He is eating big boy foods with his set of 16 choppers! (yes, 16)
We are going on walks, and trying to be outside whenever we can. Tomorrow morning we will go watch KP in the Des Moines Flower Power 5K (sponsored by the botanical gardens) with his mentoring group, See Us Run Des Moines. In a nutshell, this group mentors young adults while helping them train for the Des Moines Marathon. It is an amazing program. I am sure they could use more mentors if you are interested.

P.S. I am sad the Thunder lost. Great run boys!

XOXO Tab
