Does a Heart Good

What a roller coaster of emotions this week has been. I would say out of 7 days, 5 were absolutely perfect and the other two, well, they just hurt a little. No biggie. Time to pick up and move forward.

Some say that is easier said than done. But stuff doesn't get done unless you get started right? That was easy with my Pops in town! My dad and step mom Cinda came in on Wednesday night to be here for the procedure on Thursday. It had already been a crazy week for my dad as my Grandfather is not doing well. He fell on Monday in the morning and they didn't find him until later in the afternoon. He has fluid and an infection in his lung, they found an aneurysm in his stomach and he may or may not have cancer lesions on his spine. Dad went to be with him and then jumped back in the car all the way from Hays, Kansas to Wichita and headed to Des Moines all in one day.  Knowing, I didn't want to make this weekend more chaotic than need be. We ate good, had fun, they cleaned, helped with Hutch, did laundry, took care of me, and on top of that, we had more fun.

Snuggling with Grandma.
I can't tell you how long it had been since I got a chance to spend a Father's Day weekend with my dad and actually do something fun. This year, we did the zoo.

First time to the Zoo, Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.
Riding in style. The zoo is so much fun already!

Eating lunch. My first hot dog. Pretty good!

Big ol' birds!

Dad, it's a jungle around here!

Relaxing.

Here kitty kitty kitty.
Whoa.

Dad and son time.

This is so much fun! Hutch smiled the whole way!

Feeding a baby goat.

Feeding the fish!

Just hanging with my Grandpa.

Heading home! Whew!

We all had a great time. I felt good. It was beautiful and relaxing. And Hutch, well, he was just over stimulated and excited. He crashed for about two hours post zoo. My parents left this morning. It was sad. I do wish we lived closer, however, I will take memories as they come!

As for my Grandpa, he is doing okay. His daughters are with him now. He is going into surgery for the lung infection tomorrow at 7am. Please say an extra prayer for him if you have one to spare. I have been asking for a lot lately, I know. We are trying to get to western Kansas to see him in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned and I promise, I will try to get this blog back to being more positive!

Enjoy your Father's Day, all you dads out there! XOXO
